Homeschool Projects for Little Engineers

When it comes to our homeschool projects, we’ve started diving into some basic engineering materials. We’ve also started observing common problems and have come up with some ideas on how to fix them.

I’ve noticed that when I give my kids the chance, they actually come up with some of the best homeschool projects.

Here are a few of the ideas they came up with and the videos they enjoyed for their own inspiration.

Topic 1 – Squirrels vs. bird feeder

Stop the squirrels from getting to the bird feed. Begin with throwing ideas around, then the pros and cons of each idea. Once you’ve narrowed down on the better ideas, start planning. Think like the squirrel, they’re very tricky!

Topic 2 – Make a structure that protects the Egg

This was a project I did in school and it was fun. With basic materials, we had to design a mechanism that would protect the egg from a 2 story drop.

Furthermore, the kids will have a blast with this one.

Topic 3 – Design your own car and race!

Also a project I remember from school in woodwork class. Using basic materials, you have to build a car, then race it with your family members or classmates!
